Annual Meeting & Gathering

Community Land Trust of WNC will host its Annual Meeting on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Camp Grier in Old Fort, inviting the community to learn more about its work to create permanently affordable housing in Old Fort and across Western North Carolina.

The free, family friendly gathering will combine the organization’s annual meeting with a morning outdoors at Camp Grier, including fishing, hiking and running trails, pony rides and a complimentary lunch.

The Annual Meeting will give attendees an opportunity to hear directly from the Community Land Trust of WNC about the organization’s progress, its plans for permanently affordable homeownership and what comes next.

Community Land Trust of WNC’s work in Old Fort began as a grassroots effort in 2023 in response to the region’s growing need for affordable, workforce level housing. Hurricane Helene intensified an already strained housing market and accelerated the coalition’s work. The effort brought together Old Fort community organizations including Eagle Market Street Development Corporation, Camp Grier, People on the Move Old Fort and Old Fort Strong, ultimately helping secure 83 acres of donated land and startup capital from Sunshine Now Foundation and Dogwood Health Trust.

“We are a community-led organization at our core and our annual meeting is a vehicle for community power at its core,” said A.T. Harrison, CLT of WNC’s Executive Director. "As a member-based organization, the first annual meeting will establish a structure that will be used to grow this grassroots organization into a potential game-changer for affordable housing in Old Fort and throughout McDowell County."
